In this paper, we dis uss the relationship between mediatorbased systems for servi e dis overy in multi-agent systems, and the te hnique of query routing used for resour e dis overy in distributed information systems. We then onstru t a model of the query routing task whi h we use to examine the omplexity and s alability hara teristi s of a number of ommonly en ountered ar hite tures for resour e or servi e dis overy.
